The Garbage Bins?

The other day I was at the seaside.. feeling depressed and cranky as usual - Well, unlike all the others who came for fun and frolic, I was there for a purpose of grading a restaurant service. I always like that part of my job because it gives me sometime to spend and be in THE CITY CROWD- at least for a while.

As I arrived there I knew I was in at the wrong time... It was an exhibition or festival kind happening there. Hmm just another day which will leave me feeling how big of an UNSOCIALITE I was.
The place was crowded with beautifully dressed "young girls"(at least younger than what I am) . They had colours on them everywhere possible... everything from their hair bands to nail colour was making a statement.. - "they were having fun in life!" Their hair were well done and most of them would have been to the saloon for an up style at least once a month... They wore the best brands and the latest colours
(fluorescent - at this time of the fashion year!)

Me and them were different.. I was in my boring usual age old jeans and some top with so called professional boring colours (mainly black, brown or navy blue) and I was perfectly making a statement too! -"Wannabeee" Grrrr...After I was done with my work (Eating and Gobbling the food for rating it) I went for a stroll... along with my usual and very close friends who came along. Well, at least they have the zest for life.. I don’t even have that.

A few blocks down, we stopped again to order some food for my friends and I just sat down sipping my free coffee which I was given to rate.. I glanced here and there and in my mind I was just drawing the line of Gap between me and the people I saw in the crowd. I drew my eyes to relatively boring site and that was the Garbage Bins... There were 3 of them... 1 said Plastic - Another Glass and the last one Paper...
I wonder why they called them that?!? (ya ya i know the recycling bit don’t try to be smart with an already annoyed writer) Well my nasty brain finally found an answer!

Of course ! The Plastic Bin represented a Girl who was always Plastic and artificial.. with all the rebonding and dye in her hair... too much make up and branded clothes and showy dowy shades...
The Glass was more like someone trying to look like / copy Ms. plastic...

And the Paper Bin was just someone with no personal opinion...and she usually stick around in the group found by Ms.Glass but eventually led by Ms. Plastic cause she got all attention in the crowd...

After my brain has worked on this weird Imagination.. I still looked around.. trying to find more characters in the story... so I turned around.. and found a Bin... that said Mr. Trash! (well it said Trash.. Mr. was my imagination of course..) Mr. Trash was Ms. Plastic's Boyfriend... who was in the relationship because Plastic was wanted by every guy... and Mr. Trash felt great being on her side just to be the Talk of the Town.

I was still sipping my coffee when I realized that Glass would be all shattered in her course of following Plastic because she’s really transparent from her heart and there’s no way she can be Plastic...
I was in pity with Glass already.. as she had no attention and no boyfriend because of Plastic...

Well, I am old enough today.. to analyse what would be the end of the story of the Garbage bins... The Plastic would end up with multiple boyfriends , a bad past and no loyal lover who will love her for what she is from inside...

Glass will have her own ups and downs in her life but slowly she will learn what she really wants in life...

Paper - ? do you really care to know?? No one really does care about people like paper...they have lack of individuality and they are just silent witness to things happenining to others around them.
Another sip and I realized my Coffee was Over!

Well , so was the story... my friends came back with the order they received from the sandwich counter and we all got up to hurry back home...

I walked a few steps ahead.. and I turned back and looked at the New friends I made on the beach.. The bins of course... I walked towards them to say a final bye... I removed the plastic cover from my paper cup and threw it in the plastic bin and the cup in the paper bin.. As I turned around to the walk away..I smiled to myself for the lessons I have learnt from the Life less friends - The Garbage Bins!

  1. Well written article. Metaphorically well placed. I like how you mix bins with people and show how trashy ppl can be. :P
